One of the most interesting and enthralling bands I've had the pleasure of witnessing in the last decade. A peculiar pleasure.
Oft simple yet decisively, appropriately off-key. There is more than a hint of Crypt Records' miscreants embedded inside - especially The Country Teasers - yet The Sticks remain a joyous enigma. Quite inspired by their United States counterparts no doubt but, like the Teasers, undoubtedly British in their approach and output.
There are parallels with some of Dirty Beaches' shadowy "rock 'n' roll" work, too. A fitting fixture of a Twin Peaks soundtrack if said show is ever resurrected again.
