While nothing in their catalog matches Distraction, the album that comes after this, Dreamlands is a tight, athletic, rhythmically bruising beast of an art--pop-punk album — about as close to a perfect combination of quotidian factors that becomes truly transcendental when the players lack into their groove. Though I do love Hanging Valley a bit more, that's nothing against their debut — to me, this is the most rhythmically compelling post-punk act of the 2010's. This LP is a so rich in tones and textures, verging close to shoegaze while still feeling like an angular, chiming post-punk album. No need to skip anything, cuz every song's good. criticaljams
